This was a replacement for my ignition system in my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant. Just to describe the key system, it is a simple turn type, no push-in or buttons.One of the symptoms that the ignition switch might be needed to be replaced is that when you turn the key, there is no clicks between I & II or Off & Accessory. For me, it was the starter. I bought a new starter, installed it, and to my surprise, it doesn't work! I checked with my multimeter if I had good battery and connection and I did.After searching the web for similar symptoms, it turns out to be the ignition switch! This is a common problem on Mitsubishis of this era.Tips I found:1. Have a small phillips or an assortment of torn bits handy, made for electronics size, to remove the mounting screws2. Go ahead and remove the bottom kick panel for more work room.3. Be patient!After installing this, the car starts just fine, all the time! No more worrying about being stranded. I can actually feel and hear the clicks as I turn the key, just like when it was new.
